Use these guidelines on your current work assignment and you will find your self above your peers with much success in commercial or government.

  1. Once you are settled in your workstation at the client site, call your hiring agency representative to let them know where you sitting and your work-phone number/email if given.
  2. Always call your supervisor at the job site job if you’re going to be tardy or absent.  Also call your rep. to keep him/her informed as well.
  3. Understand and follow the company’s reporting structure.  Call your rep. if being asked to report to more than one individual if conflicts arise.
  4. Eliminate personal calls while on a client site.  Encourage calls be directed to home unless critical or an emergency.
  5. Do not “surf” the Internet.  Only use resources available to you as designated by the client.
  6. Ask for internal protocols and schedules regarding work hours and lunches.
  7. Do not critique client protocols, processes, and projects unless asked to do so.
  8. Ask about client OT policy before agreeing to work overtime.  Communicate to your rep. if being asked to work OT hours.
  9. Do not discuss salary-related issues with anyone at the client site.  Discuss with your hiring agency representative.
  10. Do not make assumptions.  Ask for help or direction before performing work.
  11. Keep your ear to the ground.  listen for things that could generate lead or referrals.
  12. Contact your rep immediately with any project status changes or updated end date information.  You will typically be the first to know about them.
  13. You are not a permanent employee so do not expect inclusion in company meetings, issues, lunches, and social events.
  14. In the case that your assignment is a Temp-to-Perm, please contact your rep. regarding any salary or “roll date” discussions you may have with your client manager.  Furthermore, if you are NOT on a Temp-to-Perm contract, do not apply to any permanent client openings that may be brought to your attention without speaking to your recruiter first.
  15. A person’s hairstyle, makeup, jewelry and clothing are all very personal.  However, extremes may not be appropriate depending on the company your are employed with.  It is your responsibility to find out the dress code guidelines at your place of employment.  If unsure, contact your hiring agency representative.
